How We Accelerate Disciple Making Movements
IDENTIFY
We run paid and organic marketing on Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok with relevant messaging that invites people to send us a private message if they want to learn about Jesus.
FILTER
When a person reaches out, they chat with one of our on-the-ground Digital Responders who takes the time to verify that they are genuinely interested in learning more – right now.
CONNECT
Digital Responders then set up a plan to safely meet face-to-face with the Seeker**, with the goal of building the relationship and inviting this person to host a Discovery Bible Study in their home.
DISCIPLE
The Seeker then invites friends and family to join them for the Discovery Bible Study. This safe setting allows participants to discover Jesus as a group and build community around their faith.
MULTIPLY
Many of these participants will be baptized together, form new Discovery Bible Study groups, and plant churches within their own cultures. This is how movements become viral.
What is a Disciple Making Movement?
Throughout history, God has worked in catalytic ways to spread the Gospel. We define Disciple Making Movements, frequently called DMMs, as these specific points in time where we can identify that there is a viral and Holy Spirit-led multiplication of believers within a specific region and people group. DMMs also have core characteristics that differentiate them from other traditional church planting or missionary efforts.
Characteristic 1: God Leads the Way, Not Us. Only God can start a Movement. Our part is to pray, plant, identify, and water the seeds that can lead to a multiplying movement of Biblical proportions.
Characteristic 2: Passionate to Spread the News. It’s about more than just believing. The focus is on helping new followers of Jesus to become obedient, reproducing disciples, rather than just converts.
Characteristic 3: Keep It Simple. Seriously. If it’s not repeatable, it can’t multiply. Movements spread when people follow simple practices to hear from God, learn from Him, obey Him, and share with others.
Characteristic 4: People Grow Best In Groups. Community invites change. God moves in the hearts of individuals when they are in a safe and supportive environment where the can grow together.
Characteristic 5: Discipleship Can Mean Persecution. There’s risk to sharing Jesus. Disciples know they are going out like lambs among the wolves as they spread the Gospel in places where it’s not accepted.
Characteristic 6: Responsibility is Paramount. It’s about taking ownership. Disciples are committed to sharing the Gospel to everyone in their relational network and to the darkest parts of the world.
SEEKER
We define a Seeker as a Person of Peace who does not yet know Jesus but is willing to learn more in a safe community setting with their friends and family. They have received the message, they receive the messenger, and they join us in mission before they are even following Jesus.
